MOVE ME. Opening Reception and Artist’s Talk: Thursday, April 28, 2011 | 6-8 pm | Informal Artist’s Talk starts at 7 pm Move Me, curated by Heidi Kayser, presents the sculpture of Chris Fitch, Arthur Ganson, Tom Haney, Steve Hollinger and Erica von Schilgen. The works explore the intimate, poetic drama created as electricity, clockworks or human interaction physically “moves” kinetic sculpture but also emotionally “moves” an observer. Ranging from the clandestine use of mechanics and electronics to the intentionally obvious revelation of the inner workings, the show explores the relationship created between artwork and viewer when moving sculpture’s narratives unfold in real time. A special commissioned piece. This work incorporated the children's photos and their favorite animals. As the viewer turns the crank, all of the butterflies flutter, and each of the children are engaged in their flight, to the tune of a music box.

The artists Chris Fitch and Erica von Schilgen are known for their charming and eccentric mechanical creations. “The Adventures of Innocence” presents new work in a variety of media ranging from the silly to the serious that explores perspectives on personal and cultural relationships with the notion of Innocence in American society and how theseperspectives evolve as we age.

Super Powers!

I've been taking a little break from my mechanical pieces and have been playing around with some new gouache paint and working on paper. I just finished this collage/drawing today. Its working title is : "Our Super Powers Can Create Gazelles" !
